06 Aug Top 5 do and don’t when use black tape?
Even though black electrical tape is kind of insulator but it cannot be misuse by replacing it with the wire nuts. This is because the black electrical tape is unable withstand with the high electrical current and voltage which flow in the wiring light switches, junction boxes, or outlets. It is not suitable to use wire tape to act as a permanent connection insulator. Black electrical tape is applied only for minor cord or wire damage, it cannot be used on cracks or frays that expose bare electrical wire. If the cord is cracked but the inner insulation is still intact, black electrical tape can be used for recovery safety purpose. Next, you need to avoid covering with insulation. Electrical tape to provide heat insulation for water pipes. Black electrical heat tape gets hot enough that, if covered with flammable insulation, it can easily become a fire hazard. Then, you need to stretch the black electrical tape when you wrap. When you apply black electrical tape to a cord, piece of wire, or anything else, stretch the black electrical tape as you wrap. The tape will adhere better and will provide more insulation defence than when it is applied loosely. You need to spray the wire tape with dielectric spray. Spray the black electrical taped area with clear coat enamel or another dielectric spray when using electrical tape on sensitive connections, in order to provide more insulation. Ensure there is no any electrical power supply before the spray is applied. The power can be restored once the spray cures or dries.
